Nepal House Kaski provides training to community partner

NHK conducted two days caregiver training in new children’s home

Child Welfare Association, a children’s home which is located in the western part of Pokhara, the place is called Sedi Bagar requested caregiver training for their house mothers and child caregivers. The counsellors from Nepal House Kaski did a short Training Needs Assessment (TNA) and then offered caregiver training on “How to be a Supportive Caretaker for Children who have Experienced Trauma” on October 19th and 20th. The training was conducted in CWA training hall. The training included the topic of basic understanding of trauma, dealing with anger, understanding of abuse, abusive behaviors, long term and short term effects of childhood abuse, basic understanding on child rights according to international and national policy, children’s needs, FASD, Shaken baby syndrome and many experiential exercises.
There were Eight Participants in the training who have been working in CWA in different roles. The counsellors from NHK and the staffs from CWA talked about opening a mobile counselling centre for CWA children in coming future.
